This program prepares students for positions such as machinist, auxiliary services machinist, machine tool operator, general machinist, and tool and die apprentices. Machinists use stationary, power-driven machines to shape or form engineered materials to precise measurements. This precision makes possible the production of thousands of various parts which may be easily interchanged in the assembly or repair of final products. The machine tool program teaches students how to set up and operate the various types of machines common to industry.
