The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is qualified academically in applied science education to provide clinical laboratory skills and knowledge in rapidly changing and dynamic healthcare delivery systems. Medical laboratory technicians perform, evaluate, correlate, and assure accuracy and validity of laboratory information; direct and supervise clinical laboratory resources and operations; and collaborate in diagnosing and treating patients. The Associate in Applied Science program offers a balances curriculum which consists of general education and medical laboratory technician courses designed to be completed in five consecutive semesters.
Medical laboratory technician professionals practice independently and collaboratively. MLT graduates can be found in various settings, including physician offices, hospital laboratories, clinics, public health facilities, and research institutions.
