The Associate in Arts Degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to a college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree in a non-STEM field. (STEM fields include science, computer science, engineering, and math.) Students should consult the STARS Guide for the specific course recommendations for the college or university to which the student plans to transfer.

Area I - Written Composition: 6 Hours
Area II - Humanities and Fine Arts: 12 Hours
(Student must complete a six hour sequence in literature or history.)

- SPH 106 - Fundamentals of Oral Communication 3 Hours or
- SPH 107 - Fundamentals of Public Speaking 3 Hours

*Choose from ART 100 , ART 203 , ART 204 , ENG 251 , ENG 252 , ENG 261 , ENG 262 , ENG 271 , ENG 272 , HUM 299 , MUS 101 , PHL 206 , REL 100 , REL 151 , REL 152 , SPA 101 , SPA 102 , THR 120 , THR 126 .
Area III - Natural Sciences and Mathematics: 11 Hours
*BIO 201 and BIO 202 do NOT count as natural science credit.
NOTE: If a four credit hour mathematics course is taken, one credit hour counts for Area V.

*Choose from AST 220 , BIO 101 , BIO 102 , BIO 103 , BIO 104 , CHM 104 , CHM 105 , CHM 111 , CHM 112 , CHM 221 , CHM 222 , GEO 101 , GEO 102 , PHS 111 , PHS 112 , PHY 201 , PHY 202 , PHY 213 , PHY 214 . If you take BIO 103 , you cannot take BIO 101 . If you take BIO 104 , you cannot take BIO 102 . If you take CHM 111 , you cannot take CHM 104 . If you take CHM 112 , you cannot take CHM 105 . If you take PHY 213 , you cannot take PHY 201 . If you take PHY 214 , you cannot take PHY 202 .
Area IV - History, Social, and Behavioral Sciences: 12 Hours
(Students must complete a six hour sequence in literature or history.)
History: 3 Hours
Choose from:
History or Social/Behavioral Sciences: 3 Hours
Social/Behavioral Sciences: 6 Hours
Area V - Pre-Professional, Pre-Major, and Electives: 19-23 Hours
- ORI 101 - Orientation to College 2 Hours
Choose remaining 17-21 hours appropriate to the degree requirements and major of the individual student and electives as required and delineated for four-year colleges on STARS. ______________________________________________
