Associate in Science

The Associate in Science Degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to a college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree in a STEM field (science, computer science, engineering, or math).  Students should consult the STARS Guide for the specific course recommendations for the college or university to which the student plans to transfer.

Area I - Written Composition: 6 Hours


Area II - Humanities and Fine Arts: 9 Hours


(Student must complete a six hour sequence in literature or history.)

Area III - Natural Sciences and Mathematics: 18 Hours


*BIO 201  and BIO 202  do NOT count as natural science credit.

Mathematices: 6 Hours


Mathematics Electives (MTH 112  or higher*) 6 Hours

*Choose from MTH 112 , MTH 113 , MTH 115 , MTH 125 , MTH 126 , MTH 227 , MTH 237 , MTH 238 , and MTH 265 .

Natural Sciences: 12 Hours


  • Natural Science with Lab 4 Hours *
  • Natural Science with Lab 4 Hours *
  • Natural Science with Lab 4 Hours *

*Choose from BIO 103, BIO 104 , CHM 111, CHM 112, CHM 221, CHM 222 , PHY 201, PHY 202, PHY 213, PHY 214 . If you take PHY 213, you cannot take PHY 201. If you take PHY 214, you cannot take PHY 202.

Area IV - History, Social, and Behavioral Sciences: 9 Hours


(Student must complete a six hour sequence in literature or history.)

Area V - Pre-Professional, Pre-Major, and Electives: 18-22 Hours


Total Credit Hours Required for Degree: 60-64 Hours
