NUR 106 - Maternal and Child Nursing 5 Hours
Prerequisite: BIO 201 , NUR 102 , NUR 103 , NUR 104 , and MTH 116 or higher for PN Track and MTH 100 or higher for AD Track Co-Requisite: ENG 101 , BIO 202 , and NUR 105 This course focuses on the role of the nurse in meeting the physiological, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental needs of the maternal and child client. Course content includes antepartal, intrapartal, and postpartal care; complications of pregnancy; newborn care; human growth and development; pediatric care; and selected pediatric alterations. Nutrition, pharmacology, cultural diversity, use of technology, communication, anatomy and physiology review, medical terminology, critical thinking, and application of the nursing process are integrated throughout this course. Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to provide and manage for maternal and pediatric clients in a variety of settings.
